The Island of Oahu
A short plane ride can take you a whole world away. Hawaii is more than a remote group of islands; it’s a gateway to another way of life. Each destination envelopes you in its unique charms, but the Islands of Hawaii are each unique. Every inch of Hawaii is rich with natural wonders, and every island has a special flavor all its own. Oahu is the island in charge. The most visited of all Hawaii’s islands, and the one with the largest local population.
Though the island is only about 600 square miles, the elevation ranges from (of course) sea level all the way to 4,000 feet at the summit of Mt. Kaala. This means plenty of interesting hiking along miles of prime trails. Essentially, the island can be described as a middle plateau that connects the Koolau mountains and the Waianae mountains.
